Financial Accountant, 37 hours per week, permanent, £47,000 – £52,000 p.a. plus performance bonus

We are seeking a Financial Account who will provide exemplary accounting service to facilitate exceptional outcomes for our clients. This role supports the Chief Finance Officer in ensuring financial integrity and transparency for both the company and its clients.
This role is hybrid, with regular attendance to our office in Plymouth (i.e. minimum 2 to 3 times a week).
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely completion of month and year-end processes, including board report preparation.
- Lead the annual accounts and audit process, managing interactions with external auditors.
- Supervise a team handling accounts payable, receivable, and credit control functions.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and payment approvals.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and address discrepancies.
- Review and submit VAT returns and manage the fixed asset register.
- Complete statutory returns and consult on technology solutions for operational improvement.
- Collaborate with finance partners to share workload and expertise.
- Develop and implement risk management and quality control frameworks.
- Align departmental plans with company objectives and strategic goals.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA/ICAEW etc.).
- Proven experience in a similar dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Previous line management experience with mentoring capabilities.
- Proficiency in presenting financial reports and analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial analysis tools.
- Track record of implementing new finance systems and processes.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Flexibility to work beyond core hours as needed to fulfill role requirements.
